Solar Updraft Tower

QA-UK is developing the plans for a Solar Updraft Tower for a remote GCC desert site.

In principle, this structure could generate:

• 300MW power, with base-load capability;
• 90bn kg pure water per year;
• Crops from hydroponics;
• A colocated biofuel capability.

QA-UK is in preliminary discussions with the respective authorities for this programme and is undertaking feasibility studies.

The SUT appears to be the most cost-effective solution in the location we are considering for power generation. The water, crops and fuel are added bonuses.
